PubMed Toolbar updated & PubMed Health


Today I added the PubMed Health link & the PubMed Health Search to the PubMed Toolbar! http://pubmed.ourtoolbar.com/
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/
I also updated the toolbar a little, with new NLM & NCBI twitter accounts.

PubMed Health is a service provided by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM).

5 easy ways to PERSONALIZE YOUR PubMed Toolbar

Here are:
5 easy ways to PERSONALIZE YOUR PubMed Toolbar (or any Conduit Toolbar)

  1. Leave out stuff.
    Good to know for everybody is that you can at ALL TIMES
    turn off default features in the PubMed Toolbar. Go to "Toolbar options" via the dropdown button next to the PubMed logo. Choose "Predefined Components" and de-select the component you do not want to see anymore!
  2. Shrink it! Shrink the Toolbar to save space and make your screen more "relax". Via the dropdown button next to the PubMed logo you can select the "Shrink Toolbar" to make icons visible only. Moving the Mouse over the buttons will show the addional information. Of course you can toggle between a shrinked or unshrinked toolbar.
  3. Add personal components, like email notifier, pop-up blocker, Facebook,  Weather forecast or Online radio player (with or without NLM podcasts).Go to "Toolbar options" via the dropdown button next to the PubMed logo. Choose "Personal Components" and take your pick
  4. Add Useful Components, like Office Shortcuts, MSN Messenger, Media player etcGo to "Toolbar options" via the dropdown button next to the PubMed logo. Choose "Useful Components" and take your pick
  5. Add stuff to your Toolbar
    Use the + on the right side of the toolbar to add apps from the Conduit Marketplace to your toolbar. For instance: the MedlinePlus Search App

    PubMed Toolbar Use

    Here are some recent stats about the usage of the PubMed Toolbar (875 downloads) in order of popularity:

    1. Search (direct search in all PubMed search tool): 44.16%
    2. Main Menu: 22.01%
    3. Messages: 4.26%
    4. News: 4.26%
    5. Other: 4.23%
    6. Using PubMed: 4.07%
    7. "Alt PubMeds": 4.02%


    The number of daily users is still rising slowly. At the end of August 123 users at trhe same time was the higest use so far. This means 123 users had this PubMed Toolbar open in their browser and actually used it!
